Providing Bristol with free access to test devices

Bristol open device lab

The open device lab project aims to provide web developers with greater access to testing devices allowing them to produce better websites. Currently there are over 100 device labs being run by volunteers in 24 countries providing access to nearly 2500 devices.

The project is still young and a great deal is required from those who open new ODL's, they must provide physical space such as an office, offer some sort of time booking system to encourage fair use and be willing to frequently give their time to gather more devices to grow the lab. It is because of this I am so glad to see Noisy Little Monkey in Bristol have taken on the challenge and opened an ODL in the centre of the city.

Bristol's open device lab is a great opportunity for the hundreds of freelance and contract web developers in the city to provide clients with a better service. It's also a great way for local companies to work together and further raise Bristol in the digital scene.

I want to strongly encourage everyone to support the lab and make use of it (remember to book) and of course, donate old devices if you have them going spare.
